WHAT IS

THE BIBLICAL WILD?

The Biblical Wild is an interactive bible study for individuals, small groups, neighborhoods, and congregations where we will journey into the wilds of Holy Scripture through daily readings of the Old Testament and Psalms and weekly video reflections presented by the Rt. RECENT POSTS:

This week we study the Book of Lamentations, the only book of the Bible consisting entirely of poetic laments and passionate expressions of grief — in this case, over the destruction of Jerusalem.

Question to consider:

1 - How might laments to God be a positive force in your own spiritual development?

While the first part of Jeremiah are a collection of prophesies roughly set out in a chronological sequence, most of the remainder of the book are a series of narratives describing the experiences and activities of Jeremiah.

Questions to consider:

1 - What conditions are necessary for you to respond positively to a message of hope?

2 - How might you re-imagine a difficult circumstance as one which offers hope rather than despair?

This week, we continue on in the book of Jeremiah and at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

The Book of Jeremiah, a collection that gave shape to an emerging self-understanding among the Jewish people begins by issuing a series of dire warnings that led to feelings of despair and feelings of disillusionment.

Question to consider:

1 - What is your own experience of the effectiveness of dire warnings?

2 - What makes warnings work to change behavior? Not work?
